The start of the week can be so tough. Waking up on a Monday after an enjoyable weekend is the equivalent of running into a wall full speed. Just knowing that it’s back to the grind… blegh. Good thing I Am Geek is here to fix what ails you. Mondays don’t have to suck so bad when there’s new content to be read and things to get excited about. Anything we can do to ease the pain, you know?
Put those Monday blues away and start mapping out your weeks with all the awesome ahead. Cause there is plenty of awesome to be had. Don’t believe me? First of all, hurtful but second of all, allow me to show you…
Jessica Jones The Final Season- After the casual release announcement it seems that Netflix has started to finally promote this final season of Jessica Jones. Granted, it’s a soft promotion with the first, and only trailer, being released last week but I suppose it’s something. Outside of Netflix’ desire to just have this over with, I’m very much looking forward to this final season of Jessica Jones. Jones has become one of my favorite Marvel characters and I’ve really enjoyed world building and atmosphere of this show. If the trailer is to be believed it seems that this third season is going to feel a bit more on the noir side of things and I wouldn’t have my Jessica Jones any other way. I’d really love to see this series used to kind of close out the Marvel Netflix Universe but considering it was filmed before the majority of the shows were being canceled, I highly doubt that’s the case. Instead, I’ll keep my fingers crossed that we get Jessica Jones and Luke Cage riding off into the sunset. Or sharing a screen together. Something. Please? I mean, I’ll take a kickass season too. If this is anything like Daredevil season three then we should really be in for something wonderful.
E3- Okay, okay, okay, so during last week’s Week In Geek I might have gotten my dates a little confused and mentioned E3 as something to get excited about. In my defense, E3 did start yesterday (Sunday) and our Week In Geek starts on Monday soooooo I was kind of right. That doesn’t matter though, what does matter is that we are in the midst of some major video game announcements. Tonight at nine o’clock we’re finally going to learn about the Avengers game from Square Enix and I’m beyond hyped for that. We’ve already gotten a release date and footage from the long-awaited Final Fantasy VII remake and that game looks stunning. Not to mention Cyberpunk2077 is no longer an Xbox exclusive and contains Keanu Reeves in a major role, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order gameplay looks like this could be the Star Wars game we’ve been waiting for. All that and it’s only Monday. We still have tons of announcements coming our way, including Nintendo and the hopeful release date for Last of Us 2. Look for all the video game news to trickle out throughout the week, and then prep your wallets because 2020 is going to be one hell of a gaming year.
Men In Black International- It seems like it’s been a minute since the last Men In Black movie, and while I haven’t been over the moon about the sequels, I am optimistic about this soft reboot. Bringing Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, (who I absolutely love) together again is a fantastic start. I loved the chemistry between the two in Ragnarok and curious to see what kind of silliness they can bring to a world filled with aliens. Then add the fact that Kumail Nanjinani is going to be some comedic alien sidekick and International seems to be exactly what this franchise needs.
The Year of Keanu Reeves- John Wick 3. Toy Story 4. Cyberpunk 2077. Always Be My Maybe… Ladies and gentlemen, 2019 is the year of Keanu Reeves and we should all be so very, very grateful.
There you have it Geeklings, all the best of the week. What are you looking forward to the most? Sound off in the comments or throw me a line over at Twitter @iamgeek32. My writing schedule is a little out of whack this week so I’m not entirely sure if I’ll be back tomorrow, but damn it, I’m going to try. Happy Monday Geeklings!
