What’s Everyone Watching?

Lately, it seems that all the shows I’ve been watching are released weekly almost if I have traveled back in time ten years where binge-watching was just a whisper on a Netflix app I was streaming off my Wii. Yeah, that’s right, the Wii. I’m not complaining about weekly viewing though as I have found it rather enjoyable plus it’s provided a wealth of content for this here site. Nothing like a show airing once a week to fuel conversation. Hear that Netflix and Stranger Things? Do you?! With that being said though, it’s been a minute since the Mrs. and I sat down and started a show on Friday and finished it at some point Sunday. I miss it. I need some binge in my life.

Help me.

It’s not like I haven’t been watching a bunch of things either. The Bad Batch, Invincible, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and most recently, Cruel Summer (a show we binged the first episodes of only to have to wait weekly now like the rest of the masses) are all released once a week. I tried to get into Shadow and Bone and that didn’t work out so much. Maybe it was just me, but that first episode felt sort of like a third episode and I had no idea what was going on. After two episodes we bailed and while I have teetered with the idea of going back it’s mostly to have something to binge as opposed to wanting to know where the story goes.

Coming up this week we’ve got the release of M.O.D.O.K, the Marvel stop motion animation show with Patton Oswalt as the lead, on Hulu and the third season of Master of None coming to Netflix, both of which I’m really looking forward to but outside of that… where’s my Bridgerton? Where’s my Outerbanks? Where is the show that is willing to take ten hours of my life? I feel like Jennifer Love Hewitt in I Know What You Did Last Summer, yelling at the streaming services to provide me with my next great binge.

Maybe the lack of binges is because I’ve been really getting into weekly viewing again and that original recipe of tv watching is now negating the binge way of viewing? It’s possible but sounds like I would need the help of tv viewing specialist to help sort through that one. Like a psychiatrist but with television problems. Oh my god, did I just invent a new profession?! I should totally open my own practice. Where else will you be able to talk out the suppressed feelings you’ve had ever since Tony smothered Christopher after the car accident? Television Doctor is here to help. Oh my god, did I just give myself a Ph.D. too?!?

Future career path aside, I now turn my attention to you Geeklings. What have you been watching? We’re almost halfway through 2021 and I want to know what your favorite binges of the year have been. What shows have been making you looking forward to getting home from work and firing up the streaming service? What shows have you been unable to stop watching? Please, sound off in the comments or throw me a line over on Twitter @iamgeek32. I need a binge and you’re just the crowd to help me get my fix… yep, don’t like the way that sounded… just give me television suggestions. Thanks!
