Marvel Collectors Corp Day!!!

civil war box

Last year before the second Avengers movie I subscribed to a Funko (the company that makes Pop Vinyls) bi-monthly mystery box with a Marvel comics theme. At the time it seemed like a no brainer. The Avengers saw the release of a Hulk Buster Pop Vinyl and the only way to get it was through the Marvel Collectors Corps. Sold! Exclusive Hulk Buster Pop Vinyl with other Avengers themed swag? How could that go wrong? The fact of that matter was it didn’t. Any time the word exclusive is thrown in front of Pop Vinyl I pretty much start drooling (for example I just saw a picture of a Game Stop exclusive Jon Snow Pop and I must have it). I have been a member since the start and if it wasn’t for a debit card snafu I would have every box (I missed out on the Villains theme… I’m not heartbroken). And. I. Love. It. It’s like the best day ever.

Let me map it out for you. I have no idea what’s going to be in the box. Well sort of. I know that there will be an exclusive Pop Vinyl and a t-shirt, other then that… no idea. Think about it. Every two months I have a Marvel Pop Vinyl Christmas that gets mailed to me. From a Pop Vinyl perspective I’ve gotten some really cool exclusives like the world’s smallest Pop (Ant-Man), a Miles Morales, a Lady Thor, and the Hulk Buster. With each one I’ve squealed in delight (my Mother can vouch to this as the boxes get delivered to her house). There’s this feeling of pure glee that comes over me when a box arrives in the mail. It’s just fun to let myself be a kid for a couple of minutes while I rummage through the box’s contents.

I would also like to add that the Marvel Collectors Corps has really upped the t-shirt game since the first box. T-shirts now have Pop Vinyl versions of super heroes on them which is all types of fun. Oh you want me to wear a Secret Wars shirt with Pop versions of Spider-Man, Thor, and Iron Man? Yes please.

Any way the long and the short of it is today was Marvel Collectors Corp box day and the theme was Captain America: Civil War, and I’ve been super excited for this one. Like to the point where I was talking about it at work with my Assistant Manager and she could honestly care less (Hiiiiiiii Deb!).  After work I rushed to my mother’s house and carefully removed the boxes contents while giggling like a five year old.  I don’t want to spoil it too much in case some one reading this hasn’t gotten their box yet (half the fun is finding out what’s inside) but we happy. The exclusive Pops are fun and the t-shirt rocks. As a matter of fact there’s a good chance I’m wearing it tomorrow.

There’s just something about the pure joy I feel when a Marvel Collectors Corps box arrives in the mail. Especially on a Friday. It’s like the universe saying “hey enjoy this and the weekend”… well my wallet sort of says that too as it’s the contributing member. There are tons of monthly mystery boxes out there (Nerd Box or Loot Crate are two examples) and if you guys are looking for some fun I recommend signing up. Who doesn’t love random geeky goodies?
