Week In Geek- Mega. Geek. Week.

Geeklings, a very happy Monday to you all! How we doing? It feels like it’s been a little longer than usual since I stopped in and for that I’m sorry. Sometimes the week kind of gets away from me and I’m not left with all the time in the world which means less writing. Here’s hoping for a better writing week because I’ve got a lot of things I want to discuss with you guys. Because this week, this week is a mega geek week.

As we jump into this week’s items you’ll see that this is the perfect storm of awesomeness and one of those weekends where it might be okay to call out of work on Friday just to make sure you have enough time to get everything in. I’m not saying that’s what I’m going to do, although I may have considered it, and I’m not saying it’s something that you shouldn’t consider. Don’t we owe it to ourselves sometimes to just geek the eff out?

Let’s break down this awesome, shall we?

1. Justice LeagueWell, for better or worse Justice League will arrive in our theaters this Friday. Despite how bad the DCCU has been thus far, minus Wonder Woman, it’s still sort of exciting to see these characters on the big screen together. Now let’s not fool ourselves, the Justice League does not hold the same amount of excitement that The Avengers did all those years ago and a lot of that has to do with the build towards the film, but for a DC fan how could you not be excited knowing that Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman are all about to be represented on the silver screen? My only hope is that the film excels in areas where other DC films have failed. We know for a fact that the runtime will be under two hours, no BvS here, and that there have been massive reshoots done by Joss Whedon which is kind of promising. The less Zack Snyder at this point the better in my opinion. Most recent trailers seem to hint that the film will now be centered around Wonder Woman opposed to Batman and based on the success of Wonder Woman this isn’t a bad idea at all. At this point in the game, I’m kind of just hoping for a Justice League movie that opens the door of promise for the DCCU… and entertains me for less than two hours. Here’s hoping that’s not too much to ask for.

2. The Punisher– There was little doubt that the Punisher was one of the breakout hits of Daredevil season two which only made it a matter of time before Netflix greenlit a series of his own. I for one was slightly disappointed that he didn’t show up at all in The Defenders but it made sense to the narrative. You can’t just have Frank Castle show up everytime there’s a bunch of ninjas outnumbering our heroes. The trailers for The Punisher look brutal, as they should, and I’m looking forward to further expanding Castle’s story, something that was touched on in Daredevil. I think the show will pick up from where we last saw Frank but I also expect there to be some flashbacks sprinkled in because what’s a Punisher story without seeing Frank’s family being killed? I also love how Marvel is releasing The Punisher the same day as Justice League, it’s very similar to what they did with Daredevil and BvS. The rivalry is real but with all this comic content I think we the fans are the real winners.

3. Star Wars Battlefront 2– Yeah, as if this week needed more things to be excited about. The much anticipated Star Wars Battlefront 2 comes out with all of your Star Wars video game needs. Just watch this trailer and tell me you’re not excited. Space battles. Lightsaber battles. Classic characters. New characters. Arrrggghhh! Seems like a great way to spend hours of life.

There you have it Geeklings. What do you think of Mega Geek Week? What are you the most excited about? Sound off in the comments below or you can find me on Twitter @iamgeek32. It’s gonna be a good week!
