Everything Coming Up Marvel

Did anyone else wake up to more snow than they expected? Considering I went to bed considering there would be no snow, it was quite the unwelcomed surprise seeing about four to five inches covering the land. It was the perfect amount of annoying snow too. Not enough to cancel work. Just enough to make the morning commute crappy and my shoes wet. How splendid.

Moving beyond the bummer that was this morning’s snow, I went to the gym and came home to get ready for work. In between these two things I jumped on the Tweeters (@iamgeek32) and saw that there were reactions from the Black Panther premier up. I kind of love movie premier reactions as they normally set the tone for the reviews. I remember when The Force Awakens premiered and I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning just so I could peep some of the early reactions. Sometimes these are the best reviews. The fans who just left the theater, seeing something before anyone else, and letting their feelings out all over social media.

I just want to say that my hype levels for this film are pretty freakin’ high at this point. I’ve been in since I saw the first trailer dropped over the summer. In fact, I was at an outside bar with the Adorable Creature and watched it with no sound because I had to see it when it debuted. Since then I haven’t looked back. It certainly seems that Black Panther is poised to be something special. You can tell by the trailers. This just looks like something different for the MCU. Something slick. Something fresh. Something… important. The reactions pretty much confirmed all of this. “Cultural phenomenon”, “beautiful”, “best villain since Loki”, “important”, and “top five of the MCU”. It seems that there is indeed something special coming out of Wakanda and now the wait for this movie, which already seemed long enough, gets even longer with two weeks to go.

But Marvel wasn’t done yet. Nope. While I was waiting to get into work this morning, I got there early while everyone else got stuck in snow traffic. What can I say, I’m punctual. I once again hopped on the Tweeters and saw that Peyton Reed, the director of Ant Man, posted the following comment.

Today is Tuesday. Seems like a good day for an ANT-MAN AND THE WASP TRAILER, right?

And then that trailer appeared!!! Almost like magic.

Thus leading to an onslaught of Marvel talk with friends for the rest of the day. Now I know that Black Panther and Infinity War haven’t come out yet which makes the Ant-Man and The Wasp trailer seem a bit early, but I would beg to differ. In fact, it felt like the perfect time for it. While I don’t know the timelines of the film, it appears to take place shortly after Civil War and may not even cover the Infinity War (my current bet is it leads into the events of Infinity War), the trailer goes out of its way to not spoil anything for the greater MCU. Which is appreciated. I get a little nervous with all these trailers floating out there that I’m going to start piecing things together, Beautiful Mind-style, and spoil the films before I get to actually see them.

Needless to say, Marvel kind of flexed its muscle today and we all kind of stared at it with that dumbfounded face that comes with seeing something extraordinary, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
