Geeklings, a very Happy New Comic Book Day to you all! How does this fiiiiiiine Wednesday find you? Hopefully on the way to your local comic book shop in pursuit of purchasing new comics. If that’s the case please tell me you’re not reading this while you drive. That’s super unsafe Geeklings! I want you to get comics not crash into a tree. Unless you’re in the passenger seat, in which case, keep reading friend.
As far as NCBD goes this Wednesday is a bit… light. There aren’t a ton of books being released today but that doesn’t mean that the books that are being released should be overlooked. No sir. There are new comics today and that’s all that matters. New comics means new Pull List too so let’s get this thing rolling. Starting with…
Undiscovered Country #3- Image Comic’s new smash hit, Undiscovered Country has already been optioned to become a new film franchise with writers Scott Snyder and Charles Soule tasked with developing the screenplay. Think about that for a second. This property got picked up only three issues deep into its run. That’s kind of incredible and just makes you aware that there is something special within these pages. Where are we in the story? Well, Destiny Man has taken a member of the expedition team which means they’ve got to break said member out. The layout of America is completely different and they’re relying on Doctor Ace to navigate the new landscape or everything will come crumbling down. #nopressure
Flash Forward #5- If you left last night’s Crisis On Infinite Earths finale jonesing for more Flash, then this is the New Comic Book Day for you! With the events of Heroes In Crisis things have been kind of bleak for our friend Wally West but here in Flash Forward, he seems to have been given new purpose. Being tasked to save the multiverse will certainly give a fallen hero a new lease on life. This series takes a real personal turn as the one universe that Wally’s children happen to be alive on is the very same one that threatens to destroy the multiverse entirely. DC isn’t afraid to put Wally West through the emotional wringer and that continues here in the pages of Flash Forward. Here’s to the road to redemption for one of our favorite speedsters.
Iron Man 2020- The future is here! Literally. 2020 has arrived at the Marvel Universe as well and with it comes the rise of the robots! That’s right, it seems that the MU might have a bit of a Matrix-type issue on their hands. Robot uprising and the fear for humanity and such. Only one person is capable of possibly preventing the human race from falling to our soon to be robot overlords. If you guessed Iron Man then you would be right. But did you guess that Arno Stark would be Iron Man? I’m willing to bet not. Looks like you’ve got some reading to do.
Bloodshot #5- Hot off the heels of the second Bloodshot trailer comes a brand-spankin’ new issue of the ongoing series. While you won’t find Vin Diesel in these pages you will see the character he’s portraying and that should be good enough to raise your hype levels for the film. If the trailer has you a tad bit curious on just who Bloodshot is and what he does allow me to introduce you to Tim Seeley and Brett Booth’s latest ongoing where Bloodshot is kicking all the ass.
Legion of Superheroes #3- Jon Kent may have a new life and set of responsibilities in front of him but it’s hard to leave everything behind. Sometimes you just need to bring your BFF with you. Welcome to the future Damian Wayne! And it’s a good thing that he’s come a long because this new team is heading to Planet Gotham, which as an aside sounds like the worst possible planet to live on. Brian Michael Bendis continues to re-introduce the Legion of Superheroes to new fans and the DC Universe as a whole and things are just getting started. Lots of adventures ahead!
Honorable Mentions- Flash #86 & Skulldigger & Skeleton Boy #2
