I Am Geek is not a political website. There’s enough of that just about anywhere else on the internet or your televisions or everyday life. You find it on Twitter with celebrities and news pundits. It’s on Facebook with the people you went to high school with or even your former babysitters. Instagram isn’t safe either as now it’s political postings but in pictures. Stand up comedy specials. The news. The effin news. Late-night shows. Borat. The list goes on and on and on to the point where our political climate is almost impossible to escape.
While I Am Geek is not a political website that hasn’t meant that it’s been free of political stances or points of view from time to time. It’s almost impossible for frustrations from this current administration not to bleed through into some of the writing you’ve read over the last four years. Hell, the day after the last election might have been as political as this site has ever been. But for the most part, I Am Geek servers as a form of escapism from the world that is burning around us. That’s been the goal. Give people something to enjoy during what Community would call The Darkest Timeline.
With that being said, I felt that this site allows me a small platform to use my voice and I found it to be irresponsible not to use it.
This is will not be a long political post. As mentioned before, you can find those anywhere else. This though is a post imploring you, begging you, encouraging you, TO VOTE NEXT TUESDAY!
Vote.
Vote.
V O T E
That’s it, that’s the whole post. We’re sitting on this precipice here where your vote can literally change the trajectory of this country going forward. Your vote matters. Your voice matters. And you have the ability to have that voice be heard and looking at some of these early voting numbers… I’m filled with a little hope seeing the significance in voter turnout for this election compared to the last. If Rogue One taught us anything, it’s rebellions are built on hope.
If you’re reading this and thinking to yourself, “I want to vote but I don’t know where to go or how to do it.” Please click on this website here *VOTING WEBSITE* and hopefully some of your questions will be met with the answers needed to arm yourself for next Tuesday.
We’ve got one-week Geeklings. Things are going to get tough. They’re going to get ugly. Just because you vote it doesn’t mean this all goes away. And while that’s all happening I Am Geek is going to continue to turn out the content you need to escape from it all if even for a few minutes. We’re in this together.
