For those of you who have been frequenting, I Am Geek in its almost two-year existence, know that I’m just a wee bit obsessed with collecting Funko’s pop vinyl figures. You might even recall last Decembers Funko Photo Challenge and its results on my Instagram page (@iamgeek32). My addiction has turned into a serious problem at this point as I don’t have any shelf space and I’ve got tons of pops just sitting in their boxes waiting to be displayed. It’s been killing me. I’ve also haven’t stopped buying pops so these things keep piling up. It’s a vicious circle.
I’d be lying if I said that through all my pop collecting that I didn’t wonder what myself or Hudson the Cat would look like in pop form. I’ve even made digital pop versions of myself and researched some custom pop makers but never did anything about it. I always figured that that would be an aspect of life I would never really have an answer to… well, I was wrong.
Back in September, I celebrated a birthday (thank you, thank you) and the Adorable Creature took my love for pop vinyls and my imagining what I would look like as a pop and made it a reality. Along with my trusty sidekick Hudson the Cat. For serious, check it out!
How freakin’ cool are these things?! That’s me! That’s Hudson the Cat! We’re pops! It’s like a dream come true. I’ve even got a Rick and Morty shirt on and the grey hair scale is at a pretty fair ratio. Hudson even has the white rings around his eyes. I don’t know how to explain it but being made into a pop vinyl… it’s like geeky validation. It’s also an item taken right off the Geeky Bucket List. Now, all we need is an Adorable Creature pop to complete the set.
There isn’t a whole lot more for me to write about here. I wanted to kind of show these off and thank the Adorable Creature for being amazing, and also tell you if you love the custom work then you can find the creator on Instagram @samispops. I couldn’t be happier with them. As a matter of fact, expect to see these two pop up quite a bit during my next Funko Photo Challenge. I’m already thinking about the pairings. We could do Game of Thrones, Marvel, Stranger Things, Walking Dead… seriously it’s kind of endless with my pop collection. There’s also a part of me that kind of wants to bring these things everywhere. Introduce myself to people and follow it up with “here’s my pop vinyl”. That’s not crazy at all, right? Right?
