Geeklings, it’s Monday and I have been trying to figure out allllll day what should make it into this week’s Week In Geek, and I have to say… I’m a bit stumped. This has all the makings for what could possibly be a very slow geeky week. It’s not the end of the world and I was able to gather some things together, but there is a certain sexiness lacking that I strive for. Then again, not every week can be a gem. We know that. There are fifty-two weeks a year (a week for each of DC’s multiverses) and statistically, some of them are going to be flops. I think we might have one on our hand right now.
I guess the key to get a floppy week is trying to keep you guys engaged, and what better way to do that than tell you about my life. I figured that’s why you guys were here anyway. You come for the life news but stay for the geeky bits. It’s quite the trade-off. You guys walk away knowing me a little better and I get to write for people’s eyeholes. It’s a win-win situation. This entire paragraph reeks of stalling… which is exactly what I’m doing.
I’m curious to see how the writing week goes. I should be moving into a new apartment with the Adorable Creature this weekend (knock on wood) which is going to eat up a lot of my time come Friday (hopefully sooner). Be sure to pay attention to the Facebook page for any updates on lack of writing.
Alright, enough about me, let’s break down this week.
1. Lion King trailer- There I was on Thanksgiving watching the Saints give it to the Falcons when something familiar flashed across my screen. I was unprepared. I didn’t think this would be happening so soon. I quickly told everyone in the room to shut up. I turned to my sister and asked her to raise the volume… or maybe I just raised the volume without asking anyone’s permission. I’m kind of a renegade like that. And the whole room got quiet… as the trailer for the live action Lion King adaptation came to life on our screens.
As far as first impressions go, man, I am so here for this. Let’s not talk about this stellar cast (that includes Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, John Oliver, Beyonce, Keegan-Michael Key, and James Earl Jones!!!) but the visuals… they were breathtaking. These lions look all types of amazing and having read stuff on the internet about the robots and stand-ins that were created for the film I was blown away with how amazing they looked. Plus, what a clever way of doing that opening scene from the film as the trailer. If that doesn’t get the blood pumping I don’t know what will. This was waaaaaaay better than the Aladdin trailer from a couple of weeks ago, and I for one can not wait for this to come out. Much like Simba, I just can’t wait to be King… I really thought that joke would land better but now I’m not sure. No going back now I’ve typed too many words post joke and I don’t have that kind of backspace time.
2. Spider-Man PS4 Second DLC- We’re on the second Spider-Man DLC and I still haven’t played the first one. This all goes back to my end of year slump that I was talking about last week, but at some point, I’m going to have to download these DLCs. I miss the game too much. Plus, Into the Spider-Verse is rapidly approaching and once that drops I’m going to want all things Spider-Man. As far as the content of the story, I believe this one has to do with Hammerhead and more turf wars. It’s only a matter of time before the Kingpin makes himself known, that brief intro was just a tease, and these DLCs are setting up some strong groundwork. Plus, if you’re into collecting suits the comic book version of the Iron Spider suit is available now and it looks all types of sick!
3. Avengers 4 trailer???- I tried not to do it to myself but here we are. Another Week In Geek sees me trying not to get my hopes up for an Avengers trailer. I wrote about this yesterday, why don’t I just learn my lesson?
There you have it Geeklings, all the best of the week. What are you looking forward to the most? Sound off in the comments or you can throw me a line over on Twitter @iamgeek32. I will be back tomorrow with brand new content so be excited. Until then my friends…
