… but let’s be honest, how much of your day was impacted by this? Did you spend all day on social media talking about your favorite performances that either got nominated or snubbed? Did you start calculating the odds of what film will win Best Picture or who will win in what acting categories? Did you spend more than five minutes on The Oscars or did you casually scan the nominations and move on with your life?

I’m curious, how many of you actually cared about The Oscars. I for one gave them a look was happy to see Black Panther get a much deserved Best Picture nod. Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse seems to be poised to win Best Animation which fills my heart with glee. Rami Malek got nominated for Bohemian Rhapsody, both Lady GaGa and Bradley Cooper got acting nods for A Star Is Born (a movie I have yet to see), and that’s kind of where it stopped for me. After that, I went on with the rest of my day.

I’ve said it a bunch of times on this site but I’ve transitioned to being more television focused. If this was the Emmy’s, I would probably have an award by award breakdown with my reactions on who deserved the nod and who got snubbed. With The Oscars… I don’t know, I just don’t feel it anymore.

Why is that? What has changed? Is it that the Academy is insanely out of touch with their movie selections? Is it television has surpassed movies as my go-to entertainment? Have my tastes changed? I would rather talk about the ’94 Oscars then talk about any of the most recent shows. I probably remember the ’94 show better than any from the last five years. Don’t get me wrong, I’m going to watch, and I’ll probably make an attempt to watch the majority of the films… but I’m just not feeling it.
