Geeklings, a very happy Saturday to you all! I know, this is kind of out of the norm. A Saturday post? Really? Yes, really my friends! I told you I’m trying to make a better effort to get more than three posts a week up on the site and this is me committing to that effort. Plus, I finished building my Evil Rick and Morty McFarlane set sooooo I thought I’d stop in and say hi.

No, truth be told I was planning on stopping in the whole time. Getting the Evil Rick and Morty set done was an added bonus. But I built it at my mother’s house while I was doing laundry which means I now have to bring it back to the Fortress of Nerditude all while hoping it doesn’t fall apart. Most likely not the wisest decision but I think I’ll manage.

Leaving for work this morning I had an epiphany or maybe more like a realization. 2017 is almost over. Seriously, we’re like a month and a half away from 2018 and that’s crazy town banana pants. For starters the year just kind of flew by, they seem to do that once you reach your 30’s, and I’m already anticipating all the errors I will commit in January when I write 2017 instead of 2018. Ugh, those first couple of weeks are the worst! On top of that though, and probably more importantly, the end of 2017 means that it’s time. For a brand new. Top ten. Best of. 2017.

That’s right Geeklings, the yearly review is rapidly approaching and I’ve been keeping notes all year…well, I’ve been keeping notes most of the year, of all the best that 2017 has had to offer in pop culture. I have a list of a number of items just sitting in my iPhone’s Notes waiting to be put in numerical order while others are omitted. This will be I Am Geek’s third year in review as it leads into the sites two year anniversary. Can you believe that? I Am Geek will have been a thing out on the interwebs, tickling your eyeholes, for two whole years now. That’s pretty amazing if you ask me and as someone who has started blogs before, only to watch them die slow horrible deaths, I’m really quite proud of myself and this little site.

That’s a story that should be saved for our actual anniversary, right now is the time to start combing back through the year to all the wonderful nuggets we might have forgotten about. Like, Logan. You remember Logan, don’t you? I just bought this on iTunes, I think I’m moving away from blu-rays, and watched the first half hour before sleep kicked in, but was immediately reminded of how amazing of a movie this was. Or how about Legion? Of course, there’s Stranger Things 2, Master of None, The Defenders comic series, any and all pop vinyls, the return of Dave Chappelle, Pickle Rick, Baby Groot, Game of Thrones, aaaaaaaand The Last Jedi still hasn’t come out yet.

2017 has been a year for sure and I’ve now reached that point where it’s time to reflect and see what was the very best geek related item for the year. The pressure is mounting because a year isn’t a year without celebrating all the things that made it awesome. Especially here on I Am Geek.
