Week In Geek- A Mega Marvel Week & Elseworlds

Geeklings, it appears that I have survived the move! The Fortress of Nerditude is no more after five glorious years of existence. I’ll tell you something Geeklings, you couldn’t imagine how much crap I had/have. For serious. I thought this move was going to be easy, it’s literally across the hall, and around hour two of moving on Friday I had a panic attack. I just didn’t see it possible to move everything in on weekend. There was just too much. It was all very overwhelming and uncool. Luckily I was able to shake it off around 4:30 on Saturday and the majority of the move is over. Now we’re in set up mode… we also need to give the Fortress a better cleaning, but there is a finish line, praise the gods.

I will say, I’m exhausted. There’s still a bunch that needs to be done, and I’m anxious to get home to work on things, but man, moving kicks your ass! There is like a million, yes a million, pounds of laundry that needs to be done on top of getting everything hung up and put away, and all I want to do is take a nap. Just forty-five minutes please and thank you. Alas, I can’t not till [Apartment Name Pending] is moderately complete.

It’s a good thing that this week is poised to be a stellar, mega, geek week. Like, big time. And if you’re a fan of Marvel then this has the possibility to be trailer Christmas for you.

Capt Marvel posterCaptain Marvel second trailer- Let’s start with what’s confirmed-confirmed. Tonight during Monday Night Football, halftime to be exact, we’ll be getting our second look at Marvel’s upcoming Captain Marvel, and for those of you screaming for that Avengers 4 trailer just hold on a second, I’m getting to you. It makes sense with Captain Marvel releasing before Avengers 4 that we would get a better look at the film, and I’m all for it. While I really enjoyed the first trailer of Captain Marvel, I wouldn’t mind getting a better idea of what this story is going to be. Sure, basing it in the ’90s and bringing in Fury, Coulson, and the Skrulls is ten pounds of awesome in a five-pound bag, but I also need to know why. Hopefully, tonight’s trailer clears that up. I also wouldn’t mind seeing Chewie, her cat, in action. Maybe a glimpse of Ronan the Accuser. Oh, more Mohawk Captain Marvel for sure. And maybe a special guest appearance from Rocket Raccoon. Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?! I doubt the trailer would give this away but Rocket does have quite the relationship with Chewie (whose name in the movie is Goose) and we’ll all be big winners if he shows up for a little bit.

It seems that Marvel is poised to give us a killer week by dropping the new Captain Marvel trailer tonight and then on Wednesday, if rumors are true, dropping the Avengers 4 trailer on Good Morning America. Two Marvel trailers. One week. I don’t know if my heart can withstand something like that. I can hear you all saying, “Kevin, haven’t we been burnt by these trailer rumors enough”, and the short answer to that question is yes. The long more tortured answer is no. No, we have not. I literally have zero idea what to expect here, besides all the awesome, but would love if the end of the Captain Marvel trailer was Carol Danvers receiving a certain page… from Nick Fury! Have the Avengers 4 trailer be the sequel to the Captain Marvel trailer. It would be insane! Granted, nothing has been confirmed for Avengers 4 buuuuuuut the prelude comic to the movie drops on Wednesday and one has to believe that Marvel doesn’t want to give the title away that way… right? Just need to believe is all.

Possible Avengers video game trailer- Now this one is just a rumor but it’s believed that the long-awaited Avengers game will be getting a release date and a trailer on Saturday during the video game awards that will see the Russo Brothers presenting. Take this for what you will as there isn’t much to confirm it but if that’s the case this could be the greatest Marvel week of all time. Seriously. I’ve been waiting for news on this game for a while and after Spider-Man PS4, I think we could use a little more Marvel video game goodness.

Elseworlds Begins- There is some actual non-Marvel news today as Sunday will see the CW’s massive Supergirl/Arrow/The Flash crossover begin, and if the trailers or the tease at the end of last night’s Supergirl are any indications, this thing is going to be wild. One of my favorite parts about the DC Universe is the multiverse and the CW is looking to bring in many Earths. Like a few that we haven’t seen in a while. Looking at you ’90s The Flash and Smallville shows. Yeah, you read that right. There’s still not a whole bunch to go on besides Oliver being The Flash and Barry being the Green Arrow, but it’s enough to have me all types for Sunday. I mean, seeing the 90’s tv Flash again tickled alllllll my nostalgia buttons so everything else is gravy.

There you have it Geeklings, if the rumors hold to be true this can be a massive Marvel week and if they’re not true… well, we can look back fondly on this Week In Geek and say how badly I missed the mark. Let’s hope for the former though because I need this mega trailer week in my life to distract me from all this unpacking. How about you guys, what are you looking forward to the most? Do you think this will finally be the week we get the Avengers 4 trailer? Sound off in the comments or throw me a line at Twitter @iamgeek32. Be sure to tune in tomorrow with a full Captain Marvel trailer breakdown.
